Customize Your Trust Gateway Checkout: Merchant Name, Logo and Color

Set a merchant-specific name, logo and accent color on Trust Gateway payment pages without changing the underlying payment verification.

A payment page should make it clear who the customer is paying. Trust Gateway lets each merchant set a checkout display name, logo image URL and accent color in their own account. These are presentation settings: they do not change the receiving UPI ID, the payable amount or how an order is verified.

At a glance
  • Open Checkout branding in the merchant dashboard's left navigation.
  • Enter a short business name and a public HTTPS logo image URL.
  • Choose an accent color, preview the identity, and save.
  • Open a fresh checkout to check both the branding and the payment details.

Why checkout identity matters

Customers often arrive at a UPI checkout from a product page, invoice or chat link. An unfamiliar merchant name can make them pause, especially if their UPI app shows a different receiving name. A consistent checkout identity helps them understand the context of the payment. It does not replace the final check in the UPI app: the payer should still inspect the actual receiver and amount before approving.

Keep the display name recognizable rather than using a slogan. A short shop or business name works better in the compact mobile checkout header than a long sentence. Do not use another organization's name or logo to imply that it receives or guarantees your payments.

1. Open the branding settings

Sign in to your Trust Gateway merchant dashboard. Choose Checkout branding in the left navigation under account settings. You can also reach the same form from My Profile → Checkout branding. Each account stores its own choices, so changing your brand does not change another merchant's checkout.

The form shows a preview of the merchant identity and payment button. Review it on a narrow screen too: most customers paying from a shared link will use a phone. If you leave the custom name blank, the page uses your existing merchant name; without a logo, it uses an initial avatar.

Paste a publicly accessible HTTPS image URL in the logo field. PNG, JPEG or WebP files are practical choices. Open the URL in a private browser window before saving: a link that only works while you are signed in to your own website will fail for customers. The checkout falls back to an initial avatar if the image cannot load, but that fallback is less recognizable than a working logo.

Use a square or near-square mark with enough padding around it. A detailed horizontal wordmark may become unreadable in the small identity area. The logo is a visual aid, not a substitute for checking the receiver's UPI identity when approving a payment.

3. Choose an accent and preview the result

Use the color picker for an accent that fits your business. The checkout applies it to parts of the merchant identity and the primary UPI-app button while retaining the gateway's payment layout. Pick a shade with clear contrast against button text, then inspect the preview before saving. A very pale color can look weak on a bright phone display even if it is technically valid.

Click Save checkout branding and wait for the confirmation. The appearance settings are tied to your merchant account, so an existing order page can use your current display identity when it reloads. If you share payment links with customers, open one yourself after a change to catch a broken image URL or a typo in the business name.

4. Test the whole payment flow

  1. Create a small new payment request using the intended connected merchant account.
  2. Open its hosted checkout in a private browser window or on another phone.
  3. Check the displayed brand, amount, QR and countdown.
  4. Scan the QR and verify the payee and amount inside the UPI app.
  5. After payment, wait for the order's verified success in Trust Gateway before treating it as paid.

Branding is not a verification method. If the checkout looks correct but the payment remains pending, investigate the receiving account and order reference. Do not mark it successful based on the logo, a screenshot or a return-page visit. The payment-status guide explains the difference between pending and confirmed orders.

Checkout branding questions

Can two merchants have different checkout looks?

Yes. Name, logo URL and accent color are saved per merchant account. Orders owned by one merchant read that merchant's display settings.

Does a custom logo change the UPI receiver?

No. The logo and display name are presentation fields. The receiving UPI account is configured separately under the merchant connection and should be checked independently.

Can I upload an image file directly?

The current form takes a public HTTPS image URL. Host your logo at a stable URL, then paste it into the branding field. If the URL stops serving the image, the checkout uses its initial-avatar fallback.

For application integration, use the developer documentation. It explains how your server creates the order and verifies its outcome while the hosted page handles the customer-facing checkout.
